This month’s First Friday exhibit features art by Regina Vargas! The collection Color Memory, a visual diary told through saturation, light, and place, will be on display for the months of August and September.
Regina Vargas is a fourth-generation painter whose work blends personal memory, cultural heritage, and a love for vibrant color. Born in Mexico City and now based in Brooklyn, Regina’s work is deeply rooted in her Mexican identity.
The works in this collection are drawn from both travel and daily life. Many capture things most people might walk past: a row of plastic chairs, old pots hanging in a kitchen, sunlight breaking through a stairwell, an old church. These small, everyday scenes become landmarks when seen through the lens of hues and feeling.
Along with Regina’s paintings on display, we’ll have DJ Minister Maestro of BierWax spinning tunes for the opening. Come take in the art and music with us this Friday!
