This month’s First Friday exhibit features art by Kelly Nicole. She is a self-taught artist based in Jersey City, known for her distinctive finger painting technique.

Over the past two years, this collection of artwork has become a record of what the artist felt and experienced. In many of these pieces, she imagines emotion as something she can actually see, like a person or a presence standing in the room. Each painting feels like a conversation the artist is having with herself, sometimes difficult, sometimes comforting, but always meaningful. Together, these paintings tell the story of her learning, changing, and trying to understand what it means to feel deeply.

Along with Kelly Nicole’s work on display, we’ll have DJ Jesse Ferguson spinning tunes for the opening. Come take in the art and music with us!
