Our First Friday is taking place on the Second Thursday for the month of May with an exhibit from Jimmie James.

BLOOM is an exploration of growth, chaos, and vibrant transformation through abstract expression. Rather than depicting flowers or foliage, BLOOM leans into the metaphor — the inner flourishing that happens when we embrace process over perfection. This collection encourages viewers to see beyond the surface, to feel the aliveness that happens in mess and color and play.

James is a visual artist whose work pulses with energy, emotion, and the beauty of becoming. Based in Red Hook, James’s work is a reflection of the emotional landscapes we all traverse but rarely name. Whether through large-scale paintings or intimate studies, James invites us to slow down, to look closer, and to feel more deeply. Their art is not about what can be explained, but what can be experienced. It is, above all, an invitation to bloom. James’ artwork will be on display all May and June, and you can follow James on Instagram here.

Along with James’ art on display, we’ll have DJ Minister Maestro of BierWax spinning tunes for the opening. Come take in the art and enjoy the music on the waterfront!
